The U.S. Navy relies on us for shockproof AC induction motors for a broad range of applications, and our experience with air-cooled Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) AC motors is unmatched. Nodular cast-iron construction; NAVSEA-spec welding and corrosion resistance; Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) insulation; low noise; these are just some of the hallmarks of the over 5,000 Mil Spec motors in our portfolio. Heavy industries like oil and gas drilling know us as the specialists for top drives, rotary tables, draw works and mud pumps. Our DoD expertise with VFD motors makes the difference, especially since most oil patch problems stem from VFD issues. We know how to get optimum performance from VFD. You’ll see a military approach to reliability in our seal design for bearings in harsh environments: unlike other vertical motors, Ward Leonard uses both inboard and outboard seals on the drive and non-drive side.
