Mission Success - and Experience
Matters.
Our Deep Understanding of Mil Specs Has Made Us a Trusted DoD Partner.
When lives and mission success are on the line, Ward Leonard answers the call with readiness and capability. Low-noise, cool-running, corrosion-resistant, shockproof: Ward Leonard innovations stand on the forward edge of defense technology. You’ll find our products on the Gerald R. Ford class aircraft carrier, the DDG-1000 destroyer and the Littoral Combat Ship, the Ohio, Trident and Seawolf Class submarines, and the Firefinder Radar System. We build every motor and component under the motto of, “Failure is not an option.” We know they have to serve as long as 30 years of continuous duty—and we’re proud to help warfighters keep our nation strong and secure.
We’re on the front lines for:
- Navy Surface Ships: Hundreds of applications.
- Navy Submarine: Aboard three classes.
- Land Systems: Ruggedized for rough duty.
- Spare Parts: CASREP, obsolete, hard-to-find.
- Engineered Solutions: To your exact specs.
Even on Navy vessels with decades of service, Ward Leonard motors and controls are still hard at work. When equipment needs refurbishing, we’re uniquely qualified to restore it to OEM condition. Part of this strength comes from our acquisitions, including Tech Systems, GE Mil Spec Motors, Mawdsley’s and the ElectroDynamics Motor Line of Electric Boat (EDY). We not only have the blueprints, documentation and skill set to refurbish these units “as new;” we have the knowledge and electromechanical capabilities to meet new performance demands.
Our engineers use Ansoft Designer® 6.0’s new Solver on Demand® technology from ANSYS® to quickly and accurately analyze signal integrity, power integrity and electromagnetic interference (EMI) problems – bringing motor improvements to your specs and reducing manufacturing costs at the design stage.
